Namaskar!
14th February is popularly known as 'Valentine's Day'. Adolescent
girls and boys express their love for each other by exchanging flowers
and gifts on this day. Most of the times, these adolescents indulge in
immoral acts under the pretext of 'Valentine's Day'. In a country like
Bharat, that is enriched with values, such moral degradation of the
youth is indeed a serious social problem.
Please see this link to have more information about why not to
celebrate Valentine's Day :
http://www.hindujagruti.org/news/4038.html
The Main Points discussed are :
1) Why do the moral Hindus need to remember the sinful Valentine?
2) 'Valentines Day' being insignificant from the viewpoint of reaping
spiritual benefits!
3) An appeal to devout and patriotic citizens!
4) It is time to change the days that defy our ethos !

This was on Feb 13 2008, my project just got done and I had some downtime. Reading this email, made really really mad. So I shot back....:
How atrocious!
Why dont you idiots focus on the real issues rampant in Indian society such as:
- violence
- rape
- child abuse
- extortion
- criminal activities
- corruption
- poverty
- pollution
- disease
You guys dont have any real guts to face the real foes - the corrupt politicians and criminals in society, and instead, you try to bully these poor innocent adoloscents who are undergoing hormonal changes and are just acting naturally.
If you guys have the free time to fight issues, be real men and fight the real issues against the real enemy, instead of picking on the helpless.
Raviraj,
We live in a pluralistic society in a secular nation. Hinduism has been a historically tolerant, peaceful religion. Please dont corrupt it with your bullshit agenda! I despise people like you

I hit reply-all, but obviously this was a one-way conversation group. I didnt have permission to send a message to the entire group. It went only to this raviraj.pethe@gmail.com character. I wasn't satisfied. So I went to their website: http://www.hindujagruti.org/news/4038.html and posted my email in their discussion section. Of course, this was moderated as well, and all the posts I saw were from nitwits supporting this tirade against Valentine's day - mine didn't make it.
What a bunch of pansies - they don't even have the guts to have an open discussion.
Whatever! I atleast get to rant on my own post - and I know it will get published.
When will my country grow up?

i really like the ending - the last line. quite a rhetorical question though. *sigh*
Goodness it is great to find somewhere on the web somebody calling the hindujagruti.org mob on their aggressive posturing.
I stumbled across their site and, given the content on offer, was not that surprised that I could see no dissenting comments. These guys would make fox news look even handed. Actually, a TV station which had these guys on 24x7 spouting their toxic diatribe would be something of a laugh.
I thought I might google them to get a little context, but mysteriously could only turn up favourable pages with the exception of this one. For a pack of loons so lacking in perspective, perhaps nobody takes them seriously enough to take them to task.
But their words ARE dangerous - when uncritically appraised by an uneducated bigot. In addition to the numerous thoughtful and intelligent people in India, there are one or two of these poor souls for sure.
Likewise, I am also sure there are sites every bit as insidious as hindujagruti.org for many other religions. Perhaps they have better prose than the overt dirge on hindujagruti.org, and therefore are not as obviously xenophobic.
These sorts of extremists, be they zionist, christian, moslem, hindu or whatever, need to have their target market educated in the politics of control so they can recognise the hallmarks thereof. Then they can expose the instigators for the power/genocide mad nutjobs they are, and the cycle of mysticism fuelled powerlust has a chance at stopping.
Ahhhh... If only everyone had a BS detector these fools would be totally out of business.
Nice post, Wish. Randomly came back to your blog. What utter crap. I am so sick of people using religion as a vehicle to drive their useless agendas forward.
I know people criticize V day for being some hallmark holiday... whatever it maybe has little concern compared to those issues you stated.
Kudos to the post! :)
